"I began working in the computer industry 15 years ago and learned a
lot over the years. I opened my first computer consulting firm with a partner
in 1989. It quickly grew to five employees before I decided to go out on
my own. My next venture was equally successful. This is a very fast paced
environment that is constantly changing. I helped three of my employees
open their own computer related companies. Although not all the new companies
were hardware related, they grew out of this solid foundation.
Due to a health problem I decided in 1998 to retire from the selling of
hardware components. But I knew what I had learned could help others open
there own business or simply save money on their purchases. I now concentrate
on helping a few associates I've come to know and help new people I meet
learn this fascinating business. I decided to create this honest, straight
forward guide to accomplish these goals. It always surprised me how many
people thought only huge discount stores could offer the best prices, yet I beat
them most of the time using local and national suppliers.
I think anyone who is not afraid of their abilities and who likes to try
something new can achieve success using what I've learned. I was not the
most ambitious person in the world and I did reasonably well. I created
this guide to help people get through the basic challenges of starting out.
